30. Tripping Daisy

Favorite Album: Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb

Favorite Songs: Geeareohdoubleyou, Sonic Bloom, I Got A GirlMechanical Breakdown

Favorite Lyrics: “You don’t owe me / You owe superworld / I’d like to take you for a ride, yeah / I loved the days when we were younger then rainbows caught us

Seen Live: Unfortunately, this is yet another band I’ve gotten into a short time after they’ve broken up. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tim de Laughter’s current band live, but I would’ve loved to have had the chance to see these guys instead!

Favorite Songs: Runaway Loco, Haunted Lake, Gang War, Devil Horns

Favorite Lyrics: “And I could still feel her breathing / She said she wanted a crazy guy / And I can still hear her breathing / For I have her head by my side”

Seen Live: I would give my left nut and firstborn for these guys to reform so I could see them play live!! (firstborn pending)

28. Beck

Favorite Album: The Information

Favorite Songs: Sexx Laws, Lonesome Tears, Cellphone’s Dead, Qué Onda Guero

Favorite Lyrics: “Neptune’s lips taste like fermented wine / Perfumed blokes on the Ginza line / Running buck wild like a concubine / Whose mother never held her hand”

Seen Live: Not yet, but I hope too! Not only is Beck a musical genius, but going by live footage he knows how to put on a good show too!

27. The White Stripes

Favorite Album: Get Behind Me Satan

Favorite Songs: Fell In Love With A Girl, Let’s Build A Home, The Denial Twist, The Hardest Button To Button

Favorite Lyrics: “Red hair with a curl / Mellow roll for the flavour and the eyes for peeping / Can’t keep away from the girl / These two sides of my brain need to have a meeting / Can’t think of anything to do / My left brain knows that all love is fleeting / She’s just looking for something new / And I said it once before but it bears repeating”

Seen Live: A couple of times, and they were damn awesome!! I’m glad I had a chance to see them before they suddenly broke up, definitely something I feel is worthy of bragging rights! lol

24. Fireballs

Favorite Album: Life Takes Too Long

Favorite Songs: Under My Wing, Killer Within, Go Go Go, Broccoli Cock

Favorite Lyrics: “So I went to the doc to see what he could do / He said “Man what you got ain’t the flu” / So I dropped my pants and showed him my prick / And then he poked it in the eye with a stick”

Seen Live: A couple of times. You’ve gotta hand it to Australia, we haven’t had a whole lot of psychobilly bands, but it’s all about quality over quantity!! These guys have taken a more metal-influenced direction over the last couple of years, but more power to ‘em! They still rock this shit outta most of the bands from overseas!

23. Green Day

Favorite Album: Dookie

Favorite Songs: Longview, Welcome To Paradise, Geek Stink Breath, Nice Guys Finish Last

Favorite Lyrics: “Peel me off this velcro seat / And get me movin’ / I sure as hell can’t do it by myself / I’m feelin’ like a dog in heat / Barred indoors from a summer street / I locked the door to my own cell / And I lost the key”

Seen Live: Yep! They were pretty damn good, too… it’s just a shame that pretty much everything they’ve released since Warning is a smelly pile of new-school emo shit.

22. The Monks

Favorite Album: Black Monk Time

Favorite Songs: Boys Are Boys And Girls Are Choice, Complication, Shut Up, That’s My Girl

Favorite Lyrics: “Got a reason to laugh / Got a reason to cry / Believing you’re wise / And being so dumb”

Seen Live: I wish! They’ve done a few reunion shows over the last few years, but the chances of them coming to Australia are slim at best. What I wouldn’t give to have been living in Germany in the mid-60’s…

Favorite Songs: No One Knows, The Lost Art Of Keeping A Secret, Sick Sick Sick, 3’s & 7’s

Favorite Lyrics: “I drift along the ocean / Dead lifeboats in the sun / And come undone / Pleasantly caving in / I come undone”

Seen Live: A couple of times. They never fail to put out an awesome vibe live, though I wish they’d still play tracks from Rated R and Nick Oliveri was still in the band… those were the days *sigh*

20. Nekromantix

Favorite Album: Dead Girls Don’t Cry

Favorite Songs: Gargoyles Over Copenhagen, Who Killed The Cheerleader, Struck By A Wreckin’ Ball, Dial 666

Favorite Lyrics: “After beer number 3 / All girls looks so hot / Try to make out with some chicks / In the parking lot / Beer number 4, 5, 6, and 7 / Now I’m wasted / Feels like I’ve gone to heaven”

Seen Live: Heck yes I did!! One of the best shows I’ve been to, no question. Kim Nekroman is the most entertaining double bass player I’ve ever seen, and when you combine that with catchy songs and the fact that play tightly as a unit, you’ve got one hell of an experience!

Favorite Songs: Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of), Viscera Eyes, L’Via L’Viaquez, Ilyena

Favorite Lyrics: “Made its way through the tracks / Of a snail slouching whisper / A half mast commute through umbilical blisters / Spectre will lurk / Radar has gathered / Midnight nooses from boxcar cadavers”

Favorite Songs: Every You Every Me, Pure Morning, Taste In Men, The Bitter End

Favorite Lyrics: “Like the naked leads the blind / I know I’m selfish, I’m unkind / Sucker love I always find / Someone to bruise and leave behind”

Seen Live: A couple of times, and they’re rather entertaining if I do say so myself. They’re not the most energetic band in the world, but they sure know how to work a crowd!

17. Tiger Army

Favorite Album: Tiger Army

Favorite Songs: Nocturnal, Sea Of Fire, Fog Surrounds, In The Orchard

Favorite Lyrics: “Gone all that’s come before, we are the nocturnal / Like creatures at the bottom of the sea if they could rise / Our faces poison pale, crawl evolution’s hellish trail / And wait for the night to arrive”

Seen Live: Yeah, but don’t think I would bother again. It was kinda like they knew people were hyped to see them, so they just got up on stage, played their set and walked off again. Part of me’s kinda glad they got showered with loogies, it was the only time they actually interacted with anyone!

16. Sex Pistols

Favorite Album: Never Mind The Bollocks

Favorite Songs: God Save The Queen, Anarchy In The UK, No Feelings, Belsen Was A Gas

Favorite Lyrics: “I am an anti-christ / I am an anarchist / Don’t know what I want / But I know how to get it / I wanna destroy / The passer-by”

Seen Live: Nope. It’d be interesting to see them if they ever brought their reunion shows over here, but going by recent live recordings they sound a bit on the clean side. Considering that they’ve had several decades of learning how to play their instruments, I guess that kinda makes sense!
