7. The Bedlam In Goliath (2008)

What the critics say about it: “The Bedlam In Goliath has its unnecessary extravagances but it’s still a grand catharsis from the forces of evil. Or, for those unwilling to allow a little imagination into their lives, just a really fucking good record.” - Barry Nicolson, NME
Why it’s such a great album: Its baffling complexity rewards the listener more and more with each successive listen. While most fans of TMV would put De-Loused in the Comatorium here (and I’ll admit, it comes a close second), The Bedlam In Goliath shows the genius of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez in full bloom as he takes the direction started on De-Loused as far as it can possibly go, before starting again from scratch on Octahedron. It’s not the most comfortable listen but give it a chance and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
